| Vancouver - Wednesday, October 7, 2009 - Western Standard Metals Ltd. - WSM: TSX.V ("Western Standard" or the "Company"), has filed an application with the TSX Venture Exchange to extend for 18 months to April 23, 2011, the expiry date of warrants to purchase up to 375,000 common shares of the Company exercisable at a price of $3.50 per share, and previously expiring on October 23, 2009. The warrants were issued in connection with a private placement completed by the Company on October 23, 2007.
